'Blooming' EP showcases Wild Roses vintage, heavy rock sound

Wild Roses are a force to be reckoned with in the Midwest music scene.

The Kearney, Nebraska-based band, consisting of Cassie Brown, lead vocals and guitar, Steven Koehn, drums, and Ryan Swenson, bass (along with former lead guitarist Seth Sloan), packs a mighty punch with a sound that harkens back to 70s and 80s rock. But the fresh, unique tones on their ‘Blooming’ EP releasing Oct. 14, 2022 showcase a multi-faceted sonic palette of a rock outfit that can meld blues, metal and even indie effortlessly into their music.

Tone Tree Audio, LLC engineered Wild Roses’ single ‘Medicine’ earlier in 2022, and the band then recorded six additional songs in the spring and summer of 2022 at Encore Studio in Kearney which became the ‘Blooming’ EP.

Brown, Koehn, Swenson, and Sloan laid down the core tracks live in the studio together on hard-driving songs including ‘Rock This Town’, and then overdubbed acoustic guitar and percussion on tracks such as ‘The Flame’ to fill out the EP’s sound. Brown then recorded lead vocals on all songs, with some additional harmonies from the rest of the band, to finalize tracking. Kent Lutt of Tone Tree Audio then mixed the songs, and Saff Mastering provided mastering to finalize the EP for its Oct. 14 release on CD and digital platforms.

The Wild Roses ‘Blooming’ EP CD release party is Oct. 14 at The Other Side in Kearney. For information on the show and EP, visit the Wild Roses official website or follow them on Facebook to learn more. Listen to the single Medicine below on Spotify.
