Tone Tree Audio, LLC had the pleasure of working with Lincoln, Nebraska-based musician Alex Zappala in winter of 2019-2020. Zappala is a natural, accomplished guitar player specializing in blues, Gypsy jazz, ki Congo and numerous related styles of music.
Zappala worked with Tone Tree Audio on an original blues song, titled ‘Snow Dog’, where he performed electric guitar, bass and vocals. Kent Lutt of Tone Tree Audio performed the drums for the song.
With ease Zappala recorded rhythm guitar and solos for the track with a gorgeous-sounding Fender Deluxe amp. Stepping up to vocal duties, he delivered an excellent gritty blues voice to bring the lyrics alive on ‘Snow Dog.’ Last but not least, a sample of coyotes howling in the distance completed the intro of the track.
Zappala said, “[Tone Tree Audio’s] sound space is expertly crafted and keen to the physical nature of sound, making the tone exquisite. The recording has an atmosphere that is engaging, easy-going, smooth and unhurried. This coupled with the expertise in audio makes for an incredibly intriguing experience. This was a super fun recording process.”
