KHS releases double-disc of student band performances

The Kearney High School Bands, directed by Nathan LeFeber and Rick Mitchell, are releasing a double-album of student performances from the 2014-2015 school year, including Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Lab and Jazz Ensemble. The disc, titled 'On the Right Path' Vol. 2 is slated for a fall 2015 release.

Tone Tree Audio, LLC tracked, mixed and mastered the songs between fall 2014-spring 2015. These incredible recordings contain complex, passionate performances from a wide array of genres: from soaring ensemble numbers to marching band syncopation to jazzy horn solos, this double disc will entertain your ears for over an hour.

Some highlights of the recordings: Kearney jazz legend Wes Hird joins the KHS Jazz Ensemble, providing vocals on an awe-inspiring rendition of 'Old Black Magic'. Listen to the intense solos across the album to experience the solid improvisational roots the students are forming. And all Jazz Ensemble pieces were recorded as relaxed and strictly 'shoes off' performances.
